Area Action Partnerships
19/03/2009
Today Cabinet finalised plans for the new Area Action Partnerships (AAPs) which will come into being after new Unitary Council is established on 1st April.
We have confirmed dates for the first meetings of each of the 14 AAPs to which members of the public are welcome. If you do want to come please let us know in advance so that we can plan for the appropriate number of people.
AAPs are a vital part of the new Unitary Council as they will give local people the opportunity to set their own priorities and address them, with devolved funding of £150,000 per year.
The first meetings will be important in forming the priorities, which are likely to be very different for each area across County Durham. One of the strengths of the County is the number of people involved in local community groups and other bodies and I hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend these meetings.
